Hacks with Heck!


In a rush? Don’t want to stand over a hot stove waiting for your dinner? Maybe you need something that you can cook quickly and take to work the next day?

I’m sure everyone has had some sort of sausage casserole in their lifetime. What’s for dinner Mum? “It’s a surprise - it’s a sausage surprise”. Classic!

It’s a classic that’s easy to make, high in protein and it can cover you for a few days. So it’s a winner.



For a twist and more filling meal (I recommend you use the chicken sausages for this one)

  • Add 1 tin of kidney beans

  • 2-3 tablespoons of bbq sauce


To cook firstly fry off your sausages until golden brown. Add in your onions next and cook for a further minute. Meanwhile, mix your sachet of schwartz sausage casserole mix with the recommended amount of water. Once your sausages are nice and brown place into a deep casserole dish with your lightly fried onions. Next, pour in the casserole mix, add your chopped tomatoes and tomato puree before mixing in your chopped peppers and mushrooms. Cook for around 30-35 minutes before serving.


If you’re having starchy carbs this goes great with sweet mashed potato or a jacket. If not extra greens will do! Give it a go and tell us what you think. Or maybe just cook up some heck sausages as a high protein snack to keep you ticking over they’re always in our lunch boxes.
